Volunteers building with bio-methods

We like to get our hands dirty building with the mix of clay, sand and straw to create environmentally-friendly buildings.

We love artwork. Volunteer with us and create mosaics using ceramic that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

VOLUNTEER WITH US

Come join us in our mission to spread green thinking and innovative education. Volunteer with us and help construct an education and environment center using ecological methods, with different cob building techniques and recycled materials creating art and design.

We´ll demonstrate to the community ways to live environmentally consciously and, once complete, provide a much-needed space for alternative courses and cultural activities for children.

This volunteer opportunity is about more than contributing to a great project, it is a cultural exchange. An opportunity to learn about sustainable building methods, share in conversation, try delicious food, and be part of a growing ecologically-aware community. We hope to see you soon.

THE WORK INVOLVED

We mainly build with cob, recycled materials and wood, but sometimes building demands conventional construction and maintenance as well. Work may also include decoration tasks, ceramic mosaics, finishing off cob walls, or painting were you can put in your personal art and talent.

Other tasks may include tending to our little garden, helping around the house, cleaning, cooking and helping in homeschooling the kids.

THE SKILLS NEEDED

Some general handiness is useful, along with a can-do attitude and preparedness for work, which can be hard sometimes. Other skills like artistic skills, carpentry skills, and construction experience are always welcome but not necessary.

We're always keen to match volunteersskills with projects, so let us know what you're interested in and we'll see what work may suit.

WHAT WE OFFER

There are five working days each week (9am to 2pm), in the afternoon we expect from everybody to fulfill one  cleaning or maintenance task in communal living spaces. Weekends are free.

We provide shared accommodation between volunteers, with a shared bathroom, hot shower and wifi. There are double beds and individual beds, and rooms are usually shared between 3-5 people.

A complete, healthy breakfast and a big vegetarian lunch with salad is provided daily. Dinner is not included, but can be communally organized.

You can learn with us about natural building methods, how to do ceramic mosaic, improve your Spanish, eat traditional Peruvian food with a vegetation twist, and share in conversations with us and other volunteers.

We are located 30 minutes from the city center, with easy access via a local bus. We also have bicycles for your use, for a little cost.

There is a voluntary contribution per volunteer week (see form below), please keep in mind that we are a very young project, which grew without funds and we are still under construction. We try to provide healthy and complete meals, also there is a shared kitchen, hot water and Wifi for volunteer use. Also we put a lot of effort in sharing our knowledge about Eco-construction and to provide varying tasks to make sure you really learn from this experience - your contribution helps us to sustain all of this values! Also think about that if you can contribute a little more, this is giving a chance to other volunteers as well, who aren´t able to contribute.
